A-WOL holds community involvement to a very high standard within the company. As a young company A-WOL received a great amount of support by the Portland community and it is the company's goal and mission to give back by way of community education, summer apprenticeship programs for young artists, collaboration with local musicians, costume designers, etc. and donated performance.
Each summer, A-WOL accepts one to two young artists into the apprenticeship program. The apprentice attends regular rehearsals, trains on the aerial equipment and has the opportunity to perform in A-WOL's annual appearance at the West Linn Arts Festival. This artist is then considered for further company involvement to either return the next summer or become a regularly committed company member.

A-WOL currently participates as an Artistic Partner with Salish Ponds Elementary School in the Reynolds School District.  As artists in residence, A-WOL has the privelage of using gym space for regular rehearsals in exchange for inspiring the students with periodic school showcases and workshops.
